BDS - Bachelor of Dental Surgery (1995)
MFGDP(UK) - Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (1998)
M SURG DENT RCS(ED) - Membership in Surgical Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2001)
DIP IMP DENT RCS (ENG) - Diploma in Implant Dentistry awarded by the Faculty of General Dental Practice (2008)



As a result of my training and qualifications I am recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Oral Surgery.

About Jonathan Rees

Following completion of a dental degree, I completed six years of hospital based training in oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery and restorative dentistry.

I was subsequently the principle of an implant referral practice for five years. I am both a specialist oral surgeon and an experienced restorative and general dental surgeon.

I have completed the Royal College of Surgeons Diploma in Implant Dentistry and continue to further my skills by regular attendance of courses and conferences in the UK and abroad.

Academic Positions

As an experienced implantologist and qualified specialist I have a number of academic roles related to the teaching and examination of dentists. Presently my academic posts are:

  • Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow in Implantology at the University of Manchester.
  • Examiner for the MSc in Dental Implantology at the University of Manchester.
  • Examiner in Dental Implantology for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
  • Secretary to the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) North West Division.
  • Dental Practice Appraiser for the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK).
